Lutz war vor 20 Jahren bereits hier \u2013 und damals schon angetan von der entspannt-freundlichen Metropole. Gemeinsam m\u00f6chten wir nun gerne mehr entdecken. Auf Empfehlung beziehen wir im ehemals verrufenen Viertel \u201eKings Cross\u201c Quartier. Alkohol-Verbot \u2013 unerw\u00fcnschte \u201eKunden\u201c sollen so ferngehalten werden. F\u00fcr die Gentrifizierung des Viertels ist dies sicherlich f\u00f6rderlich. In den Bars und Discotheken wird daf\u00fcr umso mehr Alkohol (teuer) umgesetzt \u2013 Kings Cross ist Sydneys Ausgehviertel Nr. 1. Wir nehmen am zweiten Abend an einer \u201ePub Crawl\u201c teil. Innerhalb von 4 Stunden wird unsere Gruppe durch 5 verschiedene Kneipen und Clubs gef\u00fchrt bzw. fast schon getrieben. Kurios dabei: unsere beiden Guides haben das Konzept aus Berlin importiert. Der Abend ist ausgelassen, wir lernen schnell einige Leute kennen, sowohl Reisende als auch ein paar Sydneysider. Interessant: auch als \u201ebest-ager\u201c ben\u00f6tigen wir f\u00fcr den Einlass unseren Reisepass &#8211; es herrscht in Discotheken staatlich vorgeschriebene Ausweispflicht!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In der N\u00e4he unseres Hostels finden wir eine \u201eGerman Bakery\u201c: bei \u201e<a href=\"http:\/\/www.spiegel.de\/reise\/fernweh\/deutsch-tuerke-in-sydney-lizenz-zum-backen-a-710258.html\" target=\"_blank\">L\u00fcneburger<\/a>\u201c gibt es aus Deutschland importiertes Brot \u2013 dort eingefroren und in Sydney aufgebacken. Wir sind richtig gl\u00fccklich dar\u00fcber, das wir unseren Entzug an knusprigem Mehrkornbr\u00f6tchen f\u00fcr kurze Zeit unterbrechen k\u00f6nnen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>B &amp; B: Besichtigen &amp; Besorgen<br \/>\n<\/b>Wir besuchen das hervorragende \u201eSealife\u201c Aquarium. Spezialit\u00e4ten sind hier Haie, Rochen und Seepferdchen \u2013 neben den anderen Meeres- und Seebewohnern Australiens. Das Hauptbecken ist gr\u00f6\u00dfer als das D\u00fcsseldorfer Rheinbad. Unter dicken Glasr\u00f6hren laufen wir durch die Unterwasserwelt \u2013 und sind nur Zentimeter von \u201eBullsharks\u201c und \u201eGreat White Sharks\u201c entfernt. Wir k\u00f6nnen die mehrreihigen Z\u00e4hne der Haie z\u00e4hlen. Auch unsere alten Fidschi-Bekanntschaften (Riff-Hai und Manta-Rochen) treffen wir hier wieder.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Die Gastronomie-Preise in Australien sind (g)astronomisch hoch. Da wir mangels Zeit keine K\u00e4ngurus in freier Wildbahn sehen k\u00f6nnen, wollen wir zumindest K\u00e4nguru-Fleisch probieren. Wir g\u00f6nnen uns w\u00e4hrend unserer Sydney-Woche also einen Restaurant-Besuch. Im Touristen-Mekka \u201eDarling Harbor\u201c kommen wir auf unsere Kosten \u2013 und bekommen praktischerweise noch das (gewaltige) samst\u00e4gliche Feuerwerk mit, das hier w\u00f6chentlich stattfindet. Australien ist auch ein beliebtes Ziel f\u00fcr asiatische Touristen: wir hatten das Gef\u00fchl das 50% der Besucher in Darling Harbor aus China oder Korea stammen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Da wir in Afrika in Malaria-Gebiete reisen wollen, besorgen wir uns in Sydney Malaria-Prophylaxe f\u00fcr 2 Monate. Wir klappern einige Apotheken ab, recherchieren im Internet \u2013 landen dann bei ca. 600\u20ac f\u00fcr 15 Packungen Malarone. Gut das wir uns schon im Voraus schlau gemacht haben \u2013 und diese Gr\u00f6\u00dfenordnung im Budget \u201eber\u00fccksichtigt\u201c haben.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Ferienjob in Australien? Working Holiday Visa!<br \/>\n<\/b>Wir treffen in Sydney auf Massen von deutschen Rucksacktouristen: im Hostel f\u00fchlen wir uns fast schon wie in einer deutschen Jugendherberge. Ein gro\u00dfer Teil der Rucksackreisenden bleibt f\u00fcr bis zu einem Jahr in Australien. Das Land ist gro\u00df, um es n\u00e4her kennenzulernen ben\u00f6tigt man einige Monate. Das Geld f\u00fcr die Reise verdient man sich vor Ort \u2013 ganz offiziell mit einem \u201eWorking Holiday Visa\u201c. Dieses Arbeitsvisum k\u00f6nnen unter 30-j\u00e4hrige aus vielen L\u00e4ndern (z.B. Gro\u00dfbritannien, Deutschland, Chile) f\u00fcr max. 1 Jahr relativ einfach bekommen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Die Australische Land- und Bauwirtschaft scheint sich hier\u00fcber zu freuen \u2013 die meisten Backpacker (denen wir begegnen) arbeiten als Erntehelfer oder \u201ehelping hand\u201c auf der Baustelle. Die L\u00f6hne sind f\u00fcr studentische Verh\u00e4ltnisse durchaus vorzeigbar (z.B. umgerechnet 14\u20ac\/Stunde f\u00fcr Arbeit auf dem Bauernhof oder f\u00fcr Renovierungsarbeiten \u2013 steuerfrei!). Die Lebenshaltungskosten sind in Australien jedoch sehr hoch \u2013 aufgrund des Bergbau-Booms (ausgel\u00f6st durch die chinesische Wirtschaft) sind L\u00f6hne und Preise in den letzten Jahren enorm gestiegen. Das verdiente Geld ist also auch schnell durch lebensnotwendiges (Unterkunft, Essen) aufgebraucht. So geh\u00f6rt das Hostel <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jollyswagman.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jolly Swagman<\/a> zu einem der teuersten unserer bisherigen Reise \u2013 allerdings auch zu einem der Besten!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Einige Male kommen Handwerker mit Job-Angeboten direkt zum Hostel um Backpacker anzuwerben \u2013 teilweise auch auf \u201eBauernfang\u201c, wir h\u00f6rten mehrmals von Dumpinglohn-Angeboten um (unbedarfte) Neuank\u00f6mmlinge \u201e\u00fcber den Tisch zu ziehen\u201c.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>04.-11.09.2013, Sydney, Australien Auf unserem Weg nach Afrika machen wir Station in Sydney.
